Development of Small and Medium Businesses in the Primorskiy Krai

In the summer of 2003, Junior Achievment Vladivostok (Russia) in partnership with Junior Achivment Bellingham (USA) received a $50,000 grant from USAID (the United States Agency of International Development). This grant was awarded by, and is administered by, FRAEC (the Foundation of Russian-American Economic Cooperation) of Seattle, WA. The partnerships's project is called "Cooperation in the Development of Small and Medium Businesses in the Primorskiy Krai". The project will have several componants:

Creation of a "small business consulting center" in Vladivostok to aid students of business and economics in marketing their skills, and to assist small businesses in locating personnel. Five other "small business-consulting branches" will be created in other Primorskiy cities
Conducting a series of 3-day seminars for a select group of 40 university students from the Primorskiy Krai
Publication of a quarterly newsletter about the project and its progress
A 10-day internship in Bellingham for a select group of 9 university students from Primorskiy Krai (July, 2004)
